Per Duke Sports Information:

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Duke sophomore guard Grayson Allen was one of 20 players named to the preseason watch list for the 2016 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award on Tuesday in an announcement by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Jerry West Award is in its second year and recognizes the top shooting guard in Division I men’s basketball. Allen is one of four ACC players named to the award’s preseason watch list.

Allen averaged 4.4 points and 1.0 rebounds in 35 appearances last season, but was one of the nation’s breakout stars in the latter portion of the campaign. Over the course of Duke’s last 13 games, he averaged 7.5 points and put on a show with a 27-point effort against Wake Forest in the Blue Devils’ home finale.

The Jacksonville, Fla., native earned NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team honors after averaging 12.5 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 from the line in the pair of games as Duke claimed its fifth national championship.

He was a 2014 McDonald’s All-America Game and Jordan Brand Classic selection, and won the dunk contest at the 2014 Powerade Jam Fest.

The list of candidates for the 2016 Jerry West Award will be narrowed to 10 in mid-February before being cut down to five in March and presented to the selection committee. The winner will be honored at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on April 8.
