With Jabari Parker set to announce his college decision what does it mean for Duke?

Jabari Parker arguably the best player in the 2013 class will be deciding his college choice on Thursday, December 20th, at Simeon High School. Parker will be choosing between Duke, Michigan State, Florida, BYU and Stanford.

Parker deserves credit for making the process his own, his camp has kept things and chatter to a minimum and unlike most recruits there isn’t a sense of what school is in the lead. It’s seem to go back and forth between Duke and Michigan State but Parker has said in earnest that BYU, Stanford and Florida are all serious contenders and while most might be surprised if Parker chooses one of those schools, it would be foolish to count any of them out.

Here is a new article from ESPN’s Scoop Jackson on Parker and his will to win and how he handles the pressure of being on top.

With only 2 other names left aside from Parker mentioned in recruiting circles for Duke, Parkers decision, whether it be for Duke or other, will start to set in stone Dukes recruiting class for next year and give fans an idea of what that team will look like. The Devils will at very least lose Mason Plumlee, Seth Curry and Ryan Kelly and practice player Todd Zafirovski.

The Devils will add Matt Jones, a sharpshooter from Texas who has expanded beyond just catch and shoot, also Duke will welcome Semi Ojeleye out of Kansas, the bull of a small forward, who will add size and strength and a nose for the basket. Duke is also looking for a power forward to replace Mason Plumlee and have begun to express interest in Gavin Schilling and also Matthew Atewe to fill that spot.
